Terms and disclaimers

Last updated: 14 September 2026

Draft. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer and will change before the paid diagnostic opens.

1. This is not tax or legal advice

This service is software. It is not a tax return preparer, not an accounting firm, and not a law firm. Nothing it produces is tax advice, legal advice, or financial advice, and using it does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

We do not prepare returns, we do not file anything on your behalf, and we do not represent anyone before the IRS or before any French authority. Decisions about your filings are yours, and should be made with a qualified cross-border accountant.

2. What it does, and what it cannot do

The service applies a rule base to the answers you give it. Every rule carries a citation to a primary source — a section of the Internal Revenue Code, a Treasury regulation, IRS form instructions, an article of the US-France tax treaty, or an official French source — so that you can check every statement yourself. Rules we have not been able to trace to a primary source are excluded from your report rather than shown with a hedge.

The service covers federal US filing questions only. It does not evaluate state or local obligations.

The output is only as good as the answers you give. It cannot see accounts you do not mention, and it does not know facts about you that it did not ask for.

It never tells you that a form is not required, that nothing is owed, or that you are compliant. When your answers do not trigger something, that is a statement about your answers and nothing more. Tax law also changes, and a rule is a claim about a moment in time.

We work hard to be accurate and we show our sources precisely so that accuracy can be checked. We do not guarantee that the service is complete or error-free, and you should confirm anything you act on with a professional.

3. What we store

The free scan does not store your answers. They are used only to produce your result and are not retained.

If you give us an email address, we store that address, your language, and basic information about how you reached the site so we can tell you when the full diagnostic is ready and measure whether this service is useful. We do not attach your scan answers to that address.

You can ask to access, correct, or delete information linked to your email address. Some records may be retained or pseudonymized when needed for security, disputes, accounting, or legal obligations.

4. We do not share your information

We do not sell your information and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.

If we ever offer to introduce you to an accountant, that will require your separate, specific consent at the time — it is not bundled into these terms and cannot be.

5. Who this is for

This service is offered to people resident in the United States, is priced in US dollars, and is not directed at or offered to people in the European Union.

It is built for the situation of a French national living in the United States. It is not built for Americans living in France, and it should not be relied on for that situation.

6. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected to this service is limited to the amount you paid us for it. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, and some consumer protections cannot be waived by agreement.

The service is provided as is.

7. Contact and governing law

This service is operated by 42 Holdings LLC, a Texas limited liability company. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
